The media has been remarking about the new Chanel No.5 commercial starring Brad Pitt, which made its television debut a few days ago. Pitt is Chanel’s first male spokesperson, and the star of the brand’s new ad campign.

The Oscar-award winning actor was chosen to personify “the memories, thoughts and dreams of a man being seduced by a fragrance,” said the commercial’s director, Joe Wright.

Pitt said: “N°5 has always been the most iconic women’s fragrance. That’s what I see being the appeal of this campaign; it goes beyond the abstract of emotion or beauty to evoke what is timeless: a woman’s spirit.”

Wright, whose prior work includes the films Pride & Prejudice and Atonement, has been commissioned for a series of commercials for the brand.
